KASHMIR SAPPHIRE
Kashmir sapphires are unrivalled and set the standards around the world for its distinctive vibrant blue colour and rarity.

High up in the stone-cold Himalayas, Kashmir mines was uncovered after an avalanche in 1881. Located in extreme altitude, Kashmir mines were scarce and overlaid with snow round the year, making the mining extremely costly. In addition to that, there was long-standing war and political turmoil between the Indian and Pakistan border at time, the mining of the fabled Kashmir sapphire deposits came to an end after a short span of seven years.

Distinguished for their richly saturated vivid blue colour, the superlative Kashmir sapphires are mindblowing with a signature ‘velvety’ texture caused by the inclusion of silk. The soft velvet blue colour is so mesmerizing that has made these stones tremendously sought-after by gem connoisseurs, setting them the most exquisite sapphires in the world.

This spring, Tiancheng International is proud to present a total weight of 17.23-carat Natural Unheated Kashmir Sapphire Ring (Lot 208). The three dazzling treasures weighing 12.07, 2.82 and 2.34 are highly matching both in hue and saturation, making the entire piece exuberate an iridescent glow that is highly desirable.
