Of Art Deco style, the rectangular black enamel case applied to the front with a carved jadeite plaque of soft apple green colour, suffused with bright apple green patches, decorated with cabochon ruby- and rose-cut diamond-set floral clusters, to the obverse embellished with rose-cut diamonds, opening to reveal a mirror and powder compartment, to a chain set with black enamel, terminated by a carved jadeite seal of translucent apple green colour, linked by jadeite beads of similar colour and rose-cut diamond-set rondelles, mounted in 14 karat yellow and 16 karat white gold. Plaque and seal measuring approximately 52.10 x 40.80 and 28.09 x 9.71 x 7.18mm respectively; beads approximately 4.58 to 4.23mm. This lot contains jadeite or rubies originating in Burma (also known as Myanmar) and also articles of jewellery containing such gemstones may not be imported into the U.S. With respect to items containing any other types of gemstones originating in Burma (e.g. sapphires), such items may be imported into the U.S. provided that the gemstones were mounted or incorporated into articles of jewellery outside of Burma as long as the setting is not of a temporary nature. Loose gemstones of any type originating in Burma may not be imported into the U.S. In this regard, purchaser’s inability to import any item into the U.S. or any other country as a result of these or other restrictions shall not justify a cancellation of the sale or any delay in payment.
