Modelled as a 'laughing Buddha' poised on a lotus flower, the Buddha set with a jadeite of good translucent icy material base, suffused with apple green patches, the lotus decorated with circular-cut coloured sapphires and tsavorite garnets, suspending three oscillating pear-shaped rose-cut yellow diamonds, surmounted by a brilliant-cut diamond-set flower, the coloured gems together weighing approximately 4.45 carats, the yellow diamonds and diamonds together weighing approximately 1.45 carats, mounted in 18 karat yellow, white and blackened gold, signed, accompanied with an adjustable black cord embellished with tsavorite garnet-set leaves.

This lot contains jadeite or rubies originating in Burma (also known as Myanmar) and also articles of jewellery containing such gemstones may not be imported into the U.S. With respect to items containing any other types of gemstones originating in Burma (e.g. sapphires), such items may be imported into the U.S. provided that the gemstones were mounted or incorporated into articles of jewellery outside of Burma as long as the setting is not of a temporary nature.
