Li Jun (b.1978) Dialogue ink on paper, set of two executed in 2013 each: 80 × 80 cm. (31 1/2 x 31 1/2 in.) FURTHER DESCRIPTION Graduated from the China Central Academy of Fine Arts with a master in Chinese painting, Li Jun has a solid training in ink painting. Nonetheless he has escaped from the traditional path and foregoes the burden of various theories to create works that are in line with today’s lifestyle and artistic language. Li Jun’s work is largely animal-themed. Through personified expressions and appearance of dogs and cats, he highlights the blind spots that exist in the self-reflection of humans, and the interconnectedness between man and animals. The ink on the artwork is uniform and clean, the composition ingenious, the overall style pure and delicate. The piece is rich in a literary brand of leisure, and at the same time that it embraces a contemporary sense of humour.
