Li Jin (b.1958) The Beauty - Liu Ye ink and colour on paper executed in 2006 34.5 x 137 cm. (13 1/2 x 54 in.) FURTHER DESCRIPTION Li Jin’s paintings are based on scenes closest to the lives of ordinary people, mostly using food and women as the main theme, using plain and humorous language to reflect the delicate relations between people. His work stems from traditional Chinese painting and has, in a very natural manner, transformed into a set of contemporary vocabulary. Depicting realistic modern situations and the purest sensual desires of people, the work often combines the techniques of rapid brushstrokes and smudging, allowing lines and ink colours to blend together to create a perfect synergy between technique, content and scenery.
