Born into a prominent family, he showed extraordinary artistic talent from a young age, but due to the loss of his father and an unfortunate path in his studies, circumstances took a turn for the worse, such that struggles and frustration became the theme of his life. In 1949, due to radical changes on the political scene, his dream of moving to France was crushed and he was forced to settle with the government and move to Taiwan, where he has lived ever since. He has continued to create art in Taiwan, as a means of expressing his sorrows. In 1961, he co-founded the “Lanyang Painting Association”, and received recognition in art education. He held his first exhibition in 1966 in Taipei, immediately earning the attention of international collectors with his level of artistry that transcends geographic, cultural and language barriers.
