A serendipitous incident of dropping his cigarette ash onto rice paper in his studio has inspired Wang Tiande's art. The interplay of text and imagery has been a focus of Wang's works. Early in his career, he was exploring the burnt effect with Arabic numerals, Chinese characters, and then landscape paintings. In this present lot, the base layer was immersed with ink depicting landscape, an additional layer of paper with burnt detail of landscape was layered on top, creating a fascinating effect of perspective of the real and void.
