Zhang Daqian is highly regarded for his innovative spirits in his breakthroughs in various painterly styles throughout his artistic career. His first splashed ink painting was drawn after observing his garden in the rainy days and serendipitously spilling ink one night. Raincloud over Wushan is a signature work by Zhang with his green and blue splashed ink in his mature style, showing the powerful force of nature amongst the moving clouds and air.
